Dear Family,
Please look at the attachment to this. It is a Word Document telling about recent success in the Institute Outreach Centers. We try to have one in every Branch that we have a Senior Couple. They center it around the Institute Class, but we also hold English Class and some do Family Home Evening, others Family History, some Stop Smoking, etc. All of the classes target Young Single Adults. They try to involve active members and reach out to inactives as well as try to find non members to teach. It is really working well in some areas and it is just starting in others. Love each of you alot. Thank you for your faith and prayers in our behalf. Love Dad

Dear Institute Outreach Couples;
Here are a couple of ideas that we have hear this week that we wanted to share with you.
First, from Elder and Sister Heath in Varazdin: Their English class started last night with 31 in attendance. In advertising the class, they had printed and the missionaries distributed several hundred “flyers”. In addition to the flyers, they did something new. They ran an ad in the local paper. (See copy of Ad below) The cost of the ad was 560kuna ($100; 6,000 dinar; or 77 Euros.) Of the 31 who came to the class, not one was the result of the flyers, all 31 came because of the ad. In addition, the people were of a higher educational, social level than those who normally attend English class where flyers were the primary means of advertising.

Second, Sister Fife in Beograd has a large poster being made to put in the foyer of the Beograd Building telling when and where the various IOC activities are held. The poster is on (as I understand it) Poster board (it could be on painted plywood or on some other material) and can be easily updated. (You might be interested to know that Beograd Institute Outreach Center is now operating with 3 English Classes, an Institute Class and a Family Home Evening.
We would encourage all of you to share your ideas, your successes, and things you have learned with the rest of us so that we can all benefit from each other.

Third, Sister Miles in Celje has proven that the smell of Soup is just as good as the smell of cookies for helping create an atmosphere of “home” for our centers. (We visited the Mills and the Celje IOC this past week and were treated to some of the best soup I can remember). Also, as we sat in on Institute Class, it didn’t take us long to notice a class full of BOYS!!! There were five there in class. (We need to figure out a way to get these Boys in circulation. Any ideas?)

We would also like to remind all of you to prepare and submit your monthly reports in the next few days. (For the six of you who already have, thank you.) The “Institute Outreach Initiative Monthly Report” needs to be submitted to the Ahlborns by the 5th of February, (with a cc to Sister Lunt and myself) and the mission report needs to be prepared and submitted to President Weight by the 7th (also with a cc to Sister Lunt and myself. Please prepare the reports (even if you haven’t been operating a full month). This will help us all get this reporting business down better and will let Ahlborns and President Weight know where Center is as far as organization, operations, etc.

Finally, thank you for all your individual efforts. You are the “back-bone” of the IOCs and we appreciate each of you more than you will ever know. You are a real blessing in Sister Lunt’s and my lives, and mean a great deal to us. One big regret we have is that we just don’t seem to be able to spend as much time with you as we would like. Each of you are an inspiration to us and we enjoy your individual spirits and testimonies so very much.

May the Lord continue to bless each of you in your efforts;

Elder and Sister Lunt
