Dear Mike and Karen,
Yes we were in Serbia last weekend conducting Serbia District Conference. We were able to get out before it got ugly. We sent all of the missionaries to their apartments and told them to not go out unless it was early in the morning to buy food. And we told them to be in P-day clothes and to only speak in Serbian when they had to. They were not to wear name tags. As of 10pm last night we have all but three Elders out of the country. Those three were stopped at the boarder and not allowed to leave because they had reapplied to renew their visa and apparently that has to be cancelled with the police. We have them staying in an apartment that is safe and we hope to get them out on monday. The Lord has really blessed us during this process and we can not wait to bring it to a conclusion. Keep praying that this will happen on monday without incident or problems.
Love Doug

Hi President,
I received a call from Sara Crook today wanting to know if we had heard anything about the missionaries serving in Serbia. We have heard that the Embassy was attacked and that some of the families and lower level employees are being told to leave Serbia. I just wondered if the church is having the missionaries leave or if the problems has decreased and everything is ok for the missionaries. Were you and Roylene in Serbia when the tension between Serbia, Kosovo and the US began? We pray for your safety.
Love,
karen
