Dear Family,
This last week has been interesting. On the 1 Nov 2007 we finally received one of our Slovene Elders who was waiting for a visa. He (Elder Renick) originally was scheduled to arrive on 18 Sept 2007. We did a quick interview and orientation with him and then sent him with my assistants to Maribor. The next day we did Assistants Planning. Because I did transfers in Slovenia the day before when Elder Renick arrived, I have three Assistants for a couple of weeks until Elder Spendlove goes home on the 20 Nov 2007. It was a wonderful planning meeting. I had them turn to the first chapter in Preach My Gospel and read the first word. I had them do this for all thirteen chapters. The first word in chapters one and three and five is "What". The other ten chapters the first word is "How". We then had a discussion on becoming more of a Preach My Gospel mission. It has the "how" to do missionary work in it. All we need to do to have more success is to use it more. I have really been trying to get the missionaries to changes their ways and to throw away old traditions. The spirit has been opening up my understanding more as I study it. The Elders told me this is the best AP Planing session they have ever had. One of them that was really true because it was his first one. On saturday we tried to buy the grocery store out, but we did not succeed. I keep telling Roylene we need two carts. On Saturday Roylene had to prepare to feed the missionaries in Maribor after church on Sunday. The missionaries in Maribor had contacted inactives and investigators and ask them to come. We had 30 people there. Some had not been for along time. It was a really good testimony meeting. Afterward we held a short District Meeting with the six missionaries and taught them out of Preach My Gospel and I used some DVD's as well. Then we ate and then I did interviews. Monday was a catch up day of emails and the office. I now have a set of Elders coming in to help with the office four days a week. On tuesday we received a Senior Sister Sykes for Croatia. Her plane connection was missed in Paris so it was afternoon before we got her. Her maiden name is Pack. Yes she is a relative. Her great great grandfather is also John Pack only she comes through wife number three and we come throught wife number two. We let her stay in the basement bedroom and then drove her to Karlovac Croatia on the next day (7 Nov 07). I did more interviews and training with the District of missionaries there and we picked up a young sister missionary ( Sister Davis ) and brought her back with us as we are short one sister missionary for Ljubljana. She will only stay for a couple of weeks and then return to Croatia. The next morning we drove two sisters to Celje and did another training meeting and interviews. Then we drove to Varazdin Croatia and did another training meeting and interviews and drove back to Ljubljana Slovenia. On friday I did interviews in Ljubljana. This morning we went to the store again and bought more food as Roylene is feeding 21 missionaries for a early Thanksgiving Dinner. After that we went to the church at Ljubljana and I did the opening remarks with a member missionary meeting. We left the meeting early so Roylene could come home and start preparations for the meal tomorrow. We leave on monday afternoon to go to Opatiah Croatia so I can do interviews in Rijeka Croatia on tuesday morning and then we will drive to Zadar Croatia for interviews and back to Zagreb Croatia for interviews and back home. We sure love this mission and we have met so many wonderful people. Missionaries, members, and investigators and just other good people. I hope that you have a great week. I know that we will. How I changed this type is beyond me. This keyboard has a couple of different keys. I don't want to risk changing it back until after I send this.
Love Dad
