Dear Family,
Just a note to give you an update on our mission. We had a lesson in our home on the 8 May with the sister missionaries that are here in Ljubljana. The women that was taught has a testimony but she is afraid of her husband and what he will do if she joins the church. I have ask the missionaries to get in the home and fellowship him so they can overcome this. On the 10 May I had planning with my Assistants. Then on the 11 May we went to Zagreb and had a meeting and dinner with the District President of Croatia and his wife. He is doing a great job and he has only been in since Feb 2007. Then we left early the next morning from Zagreb to go to Serbia for District Conference which was presided over by Elder Wondra. He is the First Counselor in our Area Presidency. It was a great conference. However on sunday he told me to teach and lead a discussion on missionary work in a one and one half hour meeting with the missionaries and the Branch Presidencies. He was going to meet with a personal friend who is Arch Deacon Radic of the Orthodox Church instead of come to the meeting he set up. So I ask what direction do you want me to take and he gave me 10 seconds of instruction and I did it. It is amazing how the Lord provides. Elder Wondra came in for the last 10 minutes and I immediately ask him what he wanted to do. He said go on so I told him quickly what we had taught and then he took over. He has done this to me before. What a wonderful man he is. And he really has a good sense of humor. We drove home on sunday night to Ljubljana and Mike and Karen Ferre were there to help with meals for the next three days as we had missionaries going home and new ones arriving and to top it off we had Mission Council on wednesday the 16th. That started right after lunch when the new missionaries ate and left for their areas. Then Roylene and the Ferres served dinner to the Mission Council before they left. All of this eating is getting to me. We did receive a treadmill this week though. It was bought by the Area Presidency funds. They allocated one for each of the 16 missions in the area. I am sore already from using it. I hope I can keep it up. We had Sister Tidwell and her husband arrive to stay with us on wednesday. She is now Sister Taylor. They will come back for one more night on sunday the 20 May. I have been working on preparing a talk for sacrament meeting tomorrow. I never know how much time I have so I just overprepare. Then many times I give a different talk than the one I prepare because the spirit gives promptings. It has been a great experience to witness the mantle that goes with this calling. The Lord gets things done inspite of all my weaknesses. We love the opportunity to serve. I only wish many other senior couples would serve a mission. They make such a difference and they really are needed. We receive two more on the 8 June and we loose the Family History Sisters and a couple in July. We need three more couples by August but I doubt that we will get them. It took a major ordeal of me recruiting a couple from Brigham City to replace the Hansens in the office. And they come to late to get much training. Oh well. Maybe that is why we must go forward with faith. Thank you for all of your faith and prayers. We really need them to keep things moving forward. Love all of you. Dad
