Dear Family,
I thought I would give a short update before I have no time to do it. We were in Rijeka on conference weekend. We got to watch Saturday and Sunday morning sessions live at a senior couples apartment. It was at 6 pm over here. We also had a baptism in the sea on sunday after church. It was for three people one who had waited for a long time. I talked about her in my last email. This saturday and sunday we were in Zagreb. I went with the District President to look at the land for the new church. We have the ground breaking this saturday 14 Oct 06. Just in time to celebrate Mitch's birthday. I am trying to get the Zagreb ground breaking on the 4 Nov 06. You may wonder what I do in my spare time besides missionary work. Well let me list some of the things I have been doing to try to Establish the Church.
New Chapels: Ljubljana Slovenia and Zagreb Croatia. Both approved
New Rental Facitiies for Maribor,Slovenia and Novi Sad, Serbia and Karlovac, Croatia
Repairs on all meeting Facilities. Many if not all had major repairs to do
Transalation of Serbian Book of Mormon. Passed the final review and will be printed in Jan 2007.
Transalation of the Triple Combination in Slovene. They have only the Book of Mormon now. This will start in Nov 2006.
Transalation of the Book of Mormon in Croatian. The current version was done by Kresimir Cosic and it has used an old langurage version because a Catholic Priest helped him. It needs to be done officially. I hope they will do this 2007.
Money arranged for the church in Serbia so local leaders can run the church using Local Unit Budget funds
Get the church officially registered in Serbia
Start the work in Kosovo. We have had our first two baptisms with more coming
Leadership changes. We have made many changes which will bless the work through time
Leadership training. This is an ongoing process
CES started in Serbia.
Pancevo Serbia started meeting with a small group and working toward a Branch
Financial Audits to see that church procedures are followed and training done
Employment. Trying to open up opportunities for members
Perpetual Education Fund. Trying to get this going in our area
Temple Attendence increase recommends and attendence
MP ordinations
Temple Marriages
Local Young Men to serve missions
Family History Center functioning
Increase the number of missionaries in our mission
Well that is some of what else I do to try to establish the church more fully in this mission. I was prompted to do this after reading the Book of Mormon as per President Hinckley's challenge last year. Well I have to go. Love all of you. Dad
