Dear President Hafen,
I hope that you are doing well after your surgeries. We think of you daily and pray for you. Your leadership in our mission is appreciated. Your teaching and counsel blesses our individuall lives. Thank you and get well. We arrived home last night and received a phone call that Sister Weights brother past away. The family was at church for a sacrament meeting where his son was speaking prior to going on a mission. Roylene's parents and a member of the ward stayed with her brother. He found out that he had luekemia last November. Everyone considers it a blessing.
We had a wonderful spirit at Croatia District Conference. There were over 200 people at the general session on sunday at the Sheraton Hotel. The Sisters meeting at noon on saturday filled the chapel as did the Adult evening session. The theme for the saturday evening session was on Count Your Many Blessings. We had talks by members on the blessing of Priesthood, of Full Time Mission, of Paying Tithing, of Family, of Service, and of the Temple. We also had a Priesthood Leadership Meeting with three talks: Importance of Temple Attendance, Keeping Covenants, and Keys of the Priesthood. Sunday we released President Valek,Kristijan Lepesic, and Sister Slavica Bosnjak. She served for many years as District Relief Society President. We also released Sister Hammer as her counselor and Sister Chabries as District Primary President. We had Sister Bosnjak sit on the stand and speak as well. She is a wonderful sister. Her husband even came and we thanked him personally and from the pulpit for supporting her service for these many years. We sustained Elder Chabries as District President, Dubravko Hrkovac as First Counselor, Juan Estigarribia as Second Counselor, Stjepan Bzik and Mate Bilic as District High Counselors. We did not call or sustain the replacements for the sisters as we want this new leadership to have the experience. The spirit was present and the support is there for these new leaders. The Branch President, Sven Sambunjak, of Zagreb is doing well. He was sustained in January as new branch president. He is following through with the training to fully organize and call members to positions. We now have Primary, Young Women, Young Men, Relief Society, and Sunday School. Sister Weight has done training and she has more scheduled. Croatia is positioned for new life and enthusiasm for the work. I think we need to also make some changes in Slovenia. The branch president in Ljubljana is tired after only four and one half years. The branch membership also can be renewed here with changes like was done in Croatia. We should even consider a change in District because of President Lotric's work schedule. I have had meetings with him and he too is burdened and would like a change. He won't ask for it but I think it is time and we would not loose his service. He can have another important calling. His family needs more of his time too. At the present he only gets 5 hours sleep each night until the week end because of his employment and travel and church calling. He lives out about one hour because of housing with his wife's parents. They have to stay there because of needs and finances. Otherwise he could save two hours per day if he was closer to the city. Please let me know your feelings regarding this. Thank you again for your prayers, love and leadership.
President Weight
