Dear family, I just typed a long letter and accidently lost it. Oh well I will start again. This one may not be as good though. We just got back from another trip or should I say trips?
I was sick with a cold all of last week, but had a couple of days at home whick helped. Doing
great now. On saturday we drove to the coastal city of Rijeka where all of the branch has gone
inactive except for one or two. About all we have coming is the senior couple and the four
Elders assigned there. I met with a inactive brother who is well respected and when he quit
coming so did everyone else. He talked to me for almost two hours telling his story. He
got upset over a quote from President Hinckley regarding the war. Satan got to him. I
don't know what was really said verses what this brother thought and it didn't really matter
because he allowed the adversary to get to him with alot of doubts. I reminded him that
the only time he was really happy in life was when he was active and feeling the spirit.
He agreed I then tried to commit him to study and pray again, but he wouldn't at this
time. I told him that I could answer every question that he had, but that would not give him
the answers. Only the spirit can do that. He agreed. Then I told him about my experience
with Leslies death including Leslie appearing in the Salt Lake Temple. He was totally touched
and surprised. I boar testimony to him and then we had to go. We then went to Moribor Branch in Slovenia for Sunday. Sister Weight and I spoke in sacrament meeting. Then they
ask me to also teach a combined priestood and relief society meeting. There was 29 people
there with 12 of them being missionaries. Four non members were also present. Then we
did interviews and had dinner with the missionaries. The next morning we drove to Celje
Branch where I interviewed the missionaries. Then we went to the burial of a non member
lady. She was the great grand mother of a member girl about 13 years old. Then we went
back to the church and held a furneral for her. They ask me to speak at the end. There
was the member girls mother and some of her mothers friends there. It was great to see
how they as catholics accepted my remarks. You could tell that they believed. The sister
missionaries will get some contacts I am sure. The branch supported this very well with
their attendence. The sisters surved a lunch and the nonmembers came. We then drove
back to Moribor and did more interviews. On tuesday we held zone conference for all
of the Slovenia missionaries. I for got to mention that on sunday night we went
with the Elders to teach a lesson to a member family. They have two young girls.
The youngest is totally out of control. Just another week of excitement on a mission.
Karen thank you for your email. Tammy too. Your long epistle was really enjoyed. Mitch
thank you for the pictures. I need to learn how to save them to a file.
Everyone have a great week. The gospel is true. Love Dad
